The visionary game developer, renowned for co-creating the wildly popular first-person shooter Call of Duty, has tragically died in a car accident in the state of California aged 55.

His passing was announced by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, a game studio that he helped create.

The influential game designer lost his life when his automobile collided and caught fire on a highway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday morning, according to.

"This is a heartbreaking loss, and we stand with his family and friends, those closest to him, and the countless individuals inspired by his creative vision," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts said.
