Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Takes On Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game victorious streak came to an end by Sunderland before the global break, however can the Premier League leaders recover against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still manage to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against AI, readers and a range of special visitors.

In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' new record, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Life

Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity game the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "My side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or son decides to play instead."

Murs and his spouse his partner have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.

"I won't push football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be managing their weekend football team," he added.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a while too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our side for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their offense is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be fairly tight, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole home losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

This smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

The singer's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple games - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' sole on the road victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their manager Nuno was still Forest coach.

Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - will it be West Ham continuing their run under their manager, or the home side responding?

I will choose Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign began, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their last four matches.

My son told me to select Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.

Thiago will likely score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had much success on the travel this term, and Brighton are consistently strong at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's prediction: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually turns out to be quite close. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six games.

Fulham have got plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.

Regarding Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed anyone else rough up the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice to do to back the visitors here, because they are obviously able of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of October.

But I am not going to do that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the only team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I know the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a bad run... but Fulham have still been decent at home this season. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough one to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but might they be one of the sides who benefit from the {international break|
