An extensive 60-day journey around Australia was terminated days after the fatal incident of an older lady who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a remote island.

The passenger had been walking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the excursion for a pause. The liner sailed away leaving her and went back after some time after the crew became aware the passenger was missing.

A large-scale hunt located her body the following day.

Officials are looking into the tragedy, in coordination with police and the medical examiner.

The CEO of the voyage organizer stated that passengers and crew on the Coral Adventurer were informed that the rest of the voyage had been called off due to the "sad loss and previous engine troubles".

Via official communication, he added that guests would be issued a full refund, and said the operator was working "to organize the travel back of the travelers via private aircraft".

Regulatory bodies also published an updated statement, and said they had "provided a notice to the Captain" banning any additional guests from entering the liner.

The official said that they would visit the vessel in the port city upon its return.

Sequence of Incidents

The liner first departed the Australian port on the 24th of October, and was only 48 hours into the expedition at the time of the senior passenger's death. Lizard Island was the initial destination on the journey.

Passengers on board - who usually pay substantial amounts of money to join the voyage - were transported there for a shore visit with the possibility of walking or underwater exploration.

Relatives Response

The child of the victim said that her family was "stunned and distressed that the vessel left the island after an planned outing without my mum".

Through her comments, she described her mother as an "active 80-year-old" who was a participant of a bushwalking group.

"Based on limited facts we have been provided, it seems that there was a failure of care and basic judgment," she stated.

She continued that she wished the investigation would be able to determine what "the company should have undertaken that might have preserved Mum's life".

"We understand from the authorities that it was a exceptionally warm day, and she took sick on the hill climb," she revealed.

"They requested her to go back, alone. Then the boat departed, apparently without doing a headcount.

"During some point in that process, or soon after, mother succumbed, without company."

Operator Reaction

Via official communication, the Head confirmed that the organization was "collaborating extensively with officials to aid their inquiry".

He said that the firm was "extremely apologetic that this has occurred" and had offered its complete assistance to the loved ones.

The ship serves up to a hundred twenty travelers with forty-six staff, according to official details. It was specially constructed to access isolated regions of the nation's coastline and is outfitted with "tenders" - small boats used to transport passengers on land visits.
