19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev won his initial championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a difficult period, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former trainer Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

The win also means Medvedev has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive approach and regular emotional displays on court had led commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a third set.

He saved 4 early-game chances in a close third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
