Brian Eno Calls On Public Help to Get Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A charity drive is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
An Opportunity for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The song was recorded in the wake of a major charity concert held in September. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.
The impressive roster of artists appearing on Lullaby features a range of well-known figures from the industry. All participated in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a significant sum for charitable causes.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of music creators. The track blends a mix of the heritage language with new English lyrics.
The team running the initiative have stated that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These donations will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a spokesperson said. “We aim for as much as possible. Naturally, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The situation in the territory was noted for its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of buildings reportedly destroyed or damaged.
“Given that reality, a few million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and proving there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
