Automobiles in German Town Found Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Authorities reported they were contacted by a individual who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Police say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The liquid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they reported.

Police then found many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.

Officials state preliminary tests show the substance was likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the public for details.

A high-ranking political figure said the incident made him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on online, referring to the death of nine people by a gunman targeting people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
